IIA Volunteer Nominations 

Seeking IIA Volunteer Leadership Candidates for 2021–22

With more than 200,000 members in over 170 countries, The IIA provides dynamic leadership for the global profession of internal auditing. Volunteers play a key role and the contributions they make impact the day-to-day functions of internal auditors, as well as shape the future of the internal audit profession. 

The IIA is seeking nominations for qualified members to serve in the following volunteer leadership roles:

  • Global Board of Directors
  • NA Board of Directors (U.S, Canada, Caribbean only)
  • IAF Board of Trustees
  • Canadian Board (Canada only)
  • Councils, Committees and Virtual Professional Knowledge Groups
  • District Advisors and District Representatives (US, Canada, Caribbean only)

Nomination Timeline

Nominations for 2021‒22 must be submitted by 16 October 2020. If you are elected or appointed to serve, your term will begin in April or June 2021. Below is a timeline of when selections are completed and candidates are notified:

Dec. 2020: District Representatives/Advisors
Jan. 2021: Global Board of Directors, NA Board and IAF Board of Trustees
Feb. 2021: Committee Chairmen are appointed
Mar. 2021: Committee and Professional Knowledge Group members (all candidates are notified whether selected or not)

  • Serve on the board
  • Recruit new members
  • Chair or serve on a committee
  • Plan activities for International Internal Audit Awareness Month
  • Attend local events to share your best practices and solutions
  • Support the development and execution of programs, events, and local training


  • Serve on an IIA global committee
  • Become a global board member
  • Contribute or write for one of The IIA’s publications
  • Serve as an IIA conference session presenter
  • Become an IIA seminar instructor
  • Serve as a quality assessment team member
  • Provide translations for IIA materials
