Celebrating Awareness Month at IIA—Ecuador Conference
“Practical Support to Governance, Risks, and Compliance” was the theme for the 6th National Congress of Internal Audit hosted by IIA—Ecuador last month in Quito, Ecuador. Nearly 20 speakers and more than 150 attendees from both private and public sectors participated in two days of plenary sessions on diverse topics including the value of internal audit, GRC, IT audit, soft skills for personal development, and more.
Opening the conference, IIA—Ecuador president Marietta Mendoza welcomed all participants including special guests Patricio Peña, president of the Ecuadorian Institute of Corporate Governance and vice chair The IIA’s global board Larry Harrington. Harrington then commenced the program with a presentation on “Beyond the Horizon: What Lies Ahead for Internal Audit” generating interest and setting expectations on what internal auditors should anticipate in the near future.
Carlos Marx, Minister of Labour of Ecuador, opened the second day of the conference with a plenary session on management based risks. Following his presentation, IIA—Ecuador took an opportunity to share the importance of international audit awareness month and presented him, along with all participants a pin to commemorate awareness month.
Continuing with the celebration of International Internal Audit Awareness Month, during evening networking event IIA—Ecuador unveiled a banner encouraging all the participants to not only be proud of the internal audit profession but to also continue advocating in their companies throughout the month of May and beyond.
Seeking to encourage and promote The IIA’s global certification programs, IIA—Ecuador closed the conference by presenting awards to two internal auditors for having recently obtained the Certification Control Self-Assessment (CCSA).
