LAKE MARY, Fla. (June 3, 2019) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) recently announced the top scorers on the prestigious Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification exam.

The organization honored Alexandra Elena Staeben with the William S. Smith Gold Award for earning the highest CIA exam score overall. She is Lead Internal Auditor for CACI International in Arlington, Va.

The IIA also honored Gannon Burleigh from the United States with the Dr. Glenn Sumners Student Award, which recognizes students with the highest score on the CIA exam. Burleigh, who earned an MBA at Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University, is Internal Audit Leader at W.L. Gore & Associates in Phoenix, Ariz.

Also recognized for their outstanding performance on the CIA examination were Ching Nam Leung, Accounting Manager at Swire Coca-Cola Ltd. in Hong Kong, who received the A.J. Hans Spoel Silver Award for the second-highest score overall, and Emilie McRoberts, who is Internal Audit Manager at Cabot Corp in the United States, who received the Kurt Riedener Bronze Award for the third-highest score.

The CIA is the only globally recognized internal audit certification. It represents the knowledge, skills, and competencies gained to effectively carry out professional responsibilities for any internal audit worldwide. Through mid-May, nearly 160,000 CIA certifications had been awarded since the designation was launched in 1974.
