IIA–Thailand Hosts Annual Conference in Bangkok
"Emerging Identity of Internal Audit" was the theme at this year’s IIA–Thailand Annual Conference that nearly 800 delegates attended last month in Bangkok. Through two general sessions and several concurrent sessions, the diverse agenda included topics on Fraud & IT Risk, Risk Management and Internal Control, Professional Development, and Global Trends.
The conference began with opening remarks from IIA–Thailand Chairman of the Board Surapong Churangsarit, who was followed by President and Chief Executive Officer of the Thai Institute of Directors Dr. Bandid Nijathaworn. In his presentation on the "New Era of Anti-Corruption and Governance," Nijathaworn informed the audience that “preventing corruption in the organization is also the Board of Directors’ task, which can be achieved with the support from internal audit by providing the assurance on efficiency and effectiveness of internal control systems, both from a financial and management perspective.”
Following Nijathaworn, President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Kesara Manchusree presented CEO’s "Vision of Deploying Internal: Turning Risk to Value," in which she detailed how internal auditors can turn risk into value for their companies while creating financial opportunity.
Overall, IIA–Thailand had a successful conference by providing members and stakeholders not only
with updates on latest industry trends, but also industry leading practices that show how valuable internal auditors are to companies.
