Update to QIAL Eligibility and New QIAL Path

The IIA’s Professional Certification Board (PCB) approved a reduction in the years of experience an active-status Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) holder needs for certain pathways. This allows active-status CIA holders the opportunity to:

  1. Apply to complete Program Pathway 2 with only 10 years of general management experience and Audit Executive experience for three of the last five years (e); or
  2. Enter Program Pathway 1 with only 10 years of general management experience if now working as an Audit Executive (c).
Program Pathway 2 allows applicants who meet the experience requirements the opportunity to submit a Portfolio of Professional Experience (PPE) rather than taking part in the Case Studies. Please see the Eligibility Requirements chart below for information on all QIAL pathways:

A new Experienced Instructor path was also added for instructors with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in training, lecturing, or research in the area of internal audit.

To apply, access CCMS and visit the Complete a Form section or visit the QIAL page for additional eligibility and activities information.
