Outgoing 2016–17 Global Chair Receives Recognition

Angela Witzany praised for tireless dedication

SYDNEY (27 July 2017) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) President and CEO Richard Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA, praised Angela Witzany, outgoing 2016–17 Chairman of the Global Board of Directors, for her passion for and dedication to the profession.

“In her travels, Angela elevated the importance of diversity in the profession, calling particular attention to the strides women have made in internal auditing,” Chambers said on Wednesday, the closing day of the 2017 International Conference. “Angela served as a shining example of the progress women have made in our profession by becoming just the fifth female chair of The IIA, and the first female chairman from outside of North America.”

Witzany, CIA, QIAL, CRMA, is head of Internal Audit at Sparkassen Versicherung AG in Austria. Her chairman’s year theme of “Audit Never Sleeps” promoted the idea that internal auditors must offer round-the-clock assurance that organizations are well-positioned to meet the challenges of a dynamic and complex business environment.
